Opalised Shell Ring 067D
Opal Weight : 1.7 carat
Opal Size : 17.6 x 9.2 x 2.6 mm
Ring Size : P (AU) : 7.75 (US)
Rare, opalised cockle shell found in our mine at Brown's Folly, Coober Pedy. We carefully cut and polished the opalised shell but to release the stunning array of colours that were hidden under a thin outside coating of chalkstone. Incredible flashes of orange, gold, yellow, green, blue and purple can be seen from all angles.
You will note in the picture that a small section of the shell remains trapped inside the stone. The tiny white cloud gives the shell a unique, natural characteristic. The colours beneath still shine through the cloud. This natural imperfection has made this stunning piece affordable, as perfect specimens sell for thousands of dollars more.
Opal always looks best in natural sunlight. Photographs never bring out the true beauty of opal. Any minor imperfections, if present, will not be detailed in the description but our photos have been taken to be as honest as possible. Any imperfection we think will impact the stone's stability will be detailed. Please look at the photos closely before making your purchase.
